Hidden Valley Ranch

Make Veggies Disappear, Canada's Spiciest and Cheesiest & Ranchified Recipes

Over the course of five years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on many Hidden Valley Ranch projects. From giant tent pieces and awnings to magazine ads and all sorts of neat collateral. It’s been a tasty adventure and I’ve learned that there are real life ranch fanatics out there who pour it on almost everything.

The Tent

Hidden Valley Ranch teamed up with Glad to make veggies disappear at the Calgary stampede. A tent and unique handout with a complex die cut and perforations were used with samples of ranch and fresh cut veggies in Glad Tupperware to promote healthy eating and ever so tasty ranch dressing. A unique whack-a-mole carnival game was also skinned as part of this project and I remember being super jealous that I only got to do the tent.

Spiciest & Cheesiest

The first year was such a success that the next year Hidden Valley came out with a new spice and cheese ranch flavour which drove samplers to a unique website where they voted on their favourite. Lots of Rosewood font was used which really gave it that rustic wild west feel.

Ranchified Recipes

Finding out from year two that there are some crazy ranch fanatics out there, a recipe book and many magazine ads were created to promote using ranch in day to day recipes. A photo shoot was done with a focus on ingredients and food photography to really take Hidden Valley Ranch from your average condiment/salad dressing to a flavour enhancer for all your meals.

While at: 6Degrees & Boom!

Date: Jul, 2012 - Jul, 2014

Natural wood textures were seamlessly Photoshop’d together which helped bring the look and feel of this project to life and feel right at home at the Calgary Stampede. I had a blast sitting in on a bunch of really good brain storm sessions. I had been hopeful they would choose my idea of letting a lucky Facebook fan dive into a life size pool of ranch dressing, but it was rejected. C’est la vie.
Lots of flavours were packed into these projects and they were all a big hit. I would have never guessed in a million years that people could be so passionate about their salad dressing choice and it was fun to give them an avenue to sample and enjoy it.
